in a Polarized World. May 8th, 2021 10-1pm PDT We live in challenging times. Political and religious divides are increasingly polarizing us around competing ideologies; the abuse of power, the legitimization of social othering, and the denigration of injustice are rampant; and social and relational tensions are rising to frighteningly violent proportions. To be sure, parts are activated all around. IFS invites us to tend to our parts and embody Self-leadership in the midst of these challenging contexts. What does this actually look like? This workshop explores how we might honor our parts while extending courageous and compassionate action toward those who embody positions and behaviors offensive to us; and it offers an orienting compass to guide a social activism rooted in Self-leadership. This workshop is didactic with opportunities for self-reflection, application, and contemplative practice. It will be recorded and available for viewing up to two weeks after the event. Our confusion and shame about our weight, size, and health are rooted in cultural burdens that can make us lose touch with our innate wisdom about what our bodies need. This has been particularly evident during the pandemic, where messages about food and bodies have often been extreme or conflicting. Learn more. |
